2008 John Manners Banquet

We recently held our Annual John Manners Banquet at the Fire Station. Great food and fellowship was enjoyed by all. John Falgione, Nebraska State Fire Marshal, was our guest speaker. Chief Corey Wagner handed out Service Anniversary Awards to the following: Andy Nordstrom, Mark Meyer, and Michelle Libal, 5 years; Craig Wagner and Manny Brazil, 15 years; Steve Lowther and Ken Braun, 20 years. Don Jelinek was presented with a decorative axe for his 55 years of service. Both he and Doc Hansen were recognized by the Fire Marshal’s office for having over 50 years in the volunteer fire service. Earl Sheehy of the Wahoo Lions Club was on hand to give plaques to the top five volunteers who respond to the most calls. They were as follows: Tyler Virgl, 135 calls; Michelle Libal, 177 calls; Jim Nelson, 190 calls; Don Jonas, 211 calls; and Ron Voboril, 291 calls. The highly coveted Eager Beaver Award, as presented by Doc John Hansen, went to Cory Kumpula.
