Our annual John Manners Banquet was Saturday, February 21. Current and Honorary members enjoyed dinner and camaraderie throughout the evening.  Our guest speaker was Saunders County Sheriff Kevin Stukenholtz. Service awards were given to Laura Armstrong, Ken Houfek, and Phillip Nelson for 5 years of service. Wyatt Swartz received a ten year pin. Tim Nordstrom and Bob Chvatal each got a plaque for 20 years. Don Jonas reached the 25 year mark and Joe Vculek got his 30 year award.  The coveted Eager Beaver award presented by Doc Hansen , was given to Don Hansen. He recounted how he recently went to the wrong care center for a fire call.  For the past 25 years, the Lions Club has given out awards to the top 5 Volunteers attending calls. This years recipients were: Cory Kumpula, 137 calls; Ron Voboril, 166 calls; Don Jonas, 199 calls; Michelle Libal, 219 calls; and Jim Nelson, 226 calls.
