Wahoo Fire and Rescue recently held the annual John Manners Banquet.
The evening is our time to get together with Honorees, City Council members,
Rural Board members and current department members. Food, fun, and
fellowship was enjoyed by all those in attendance. The evening featured a
speaker, Darin Lintner. Darin is an instructor at Southeast Community
College in the Fire Protection division. He works with the State Fire
Marshal’s office and is a Volunteer with Syracuse Fire and Rescue. Jovan
Lausterer represented the Lions Club and handed out plaques to those who
attend the most calls throughout the year. Our top go-getters for 2010 were
Cory Kumpula and Dave Privett, 184 calls; Tony Grabowski, 197 calls; Phillip
Nelson, 216 calls; Tyler Bonnicksen, 245 calls; and Rescue Squad Captain
Michelle Libal, 270 calls. Service anniversary awards were given to: Tim
Bohaty and Dave Privett, 10 years; Chief Corey Wagner, 20 years; Mike
Svoboda and John Virgl, 30 years. The evening would not be complete without
Doc Hansen giving out our annual Eager Beaver awards. Those receiving the
award for 2010 were Cory Kumpula, Matt Rurher, and Erinn Blaske. Members
were thanked for the many hours of time and dedication and hard work
throughout the year.
