The
Wahoo Fire and Rescue Department held its annual John Manners Banquet on
Saturday, February 22nd.
Those attending were past and present volunteers, the mayor, City
Council, and members of the Rural Fire Board.
Chief Corey Wagner gave a review of 2002, which included 44 fire calls
and 282 rescue calls. Chief Wagner also
handed out service anniversary awards to Mike Jirovsky, 5 years, Craig Wagner,
10 years; Ken Braun and Steve Lowther, 15 years; and Don Jelinek, 50
years. Kal Lausterer from the Lions
Club presented Distinguished Service Awards to the top five volunteers who
answered the most rescue calls.
Receiving awards were Don Jonas, 98 calls; Don Jelinek, 111 calls;
Michelle Libal, 12 calls; Barb Duckworth, 146 calls; and Ron Voboril 251 calls.
