The Wahoo Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department recently held its annual John Manners Banquet. The event is named after a past Fire Chief and longtime member of the organization and the community. A representative of the Lions Club presented awards to the five fire and rescue squad members who attended the most calls in 2003. They were:

The evening also included a guest speaker from the Omaha Fire Department. Chief spoke of the importance volunteer departments have in our communities, and the many dangers faced. In attendance were honoree members of the fire department, members of the rural board, and members of city council.
