Saturday, February 19, 2005, was the night of our annual John Manners Banquet. This special occasion was first started on Valentine’s Day in 1946 to honor Chief John Manners who held the position for 40 years. The evening brought together current volunteers, Honoree members, the Wahoo City Council, and members of the Rural Board. Our guest speaker was Lincoln Fire Chief Mike Spadt. Ed McKibbon from the Lions Club was on hand to present awards to the volunteers responding to the most calls. They were as follows:

Service anniversary awards were also handed out: 

• 5 years                  Barb Duckworth, Collen Peavy, Cory Kumpula

• 10 years                Manny Brazil and Roxanne Meduna

• 45 years                Doc John Hansen

 

The evening would not be complete without a little levity. As always, there were mistakes or blunders made during the year.  Doc Hansen made a presentation to hand out our Eager Beaver Awards to deserving members. Receiving Eager Beaver Awards were:
